The Kaleido Approach
We recognise that LGBTQ+ communities face higher cancer risks of certain cancers, often due to lower screening rates.
Our aim is to enhance access to cancer prevention, early detection, and support services.
We focus on HPV-related cancers, as well as breast, bowel, and smoking/alcohol-related cancers. By incorporating screening into routine care and providing warm referrals, we ensure clients receive the preventative care and support they need.
Our Services
We are still developing our cancer screening and support services.
Current Services:
Cervical cancer screening – inclusive and gender-affirming screening for anyone with a cervix.
Routine anal cancer screening – for those at risk.
Cancer prevention – integrated health education and risk reduction strategies
Warm Referrals – Direct connections to LGBTQ+ inclusive specialist cancer service providers for those with positive screening results.
Future Services
As we expand our cancer care offerings, we plan to introduce:
Nurse-led cancer support for LGBTQ+ individuals newly diagnosed with HPV-related cancers.
In-reach oncology consultation services to provide specialised advice and care.
Regular LGBTQ+ inclusive breast and chest cancer screening in reach for improved early detection.
