Drug Health

Inclusive, stigma-free support

We empower LGBTQ+ individuals to make informed choices about their health and receive the support they need without fear of judgment.

Whether you’re seeking harm reduction strategies, withdrawal support, or specialist addiction care, Kaleido is committed to offering a safe and affirming space to help you on your journey.

The Kaleido Approach

we understand that LGBTQ+ communities experience unique challenges related to alcohol and other drug use, often influenced by discrimination, social exclusion, and stigma.

Our person-centred, trauma-informed approach ensures that individuals seeking support feel safe, respected, and empowered.

We aim to improve overall health and well-being by offering a range of inclusive and evidence-based drug health services tailored to the needs of LGBTQ+ people.

Our Services

We are still developing our drug health services. As our workforce grows and we develop relationships with our partner providers, our future service offering will grow to help address the needs of our community,

Current Services

Opioid Treatment Support, GP support for clients receiving opioid treatment within a primary care setting (starting July 2025)

Substance Support Counselling, individual counselling for people managing substance use.

Future Services

Stimulant Support Clinic, In-reach clinic provided by a partner organisation for health and well-being checks for people who use stimulants (coming soon)

Take-home Naloxone, free access to life-saving opioid overdose reversal kits (coming soon).

Youth Clinic, Drug and alcohol support tailored to young LGBTQ+ people.

Specialist Addiction Medicine Clinic, in-reach service with addiction specialists.

Ambulatory Withdrawal Service, GP-led outpatient withdrawal support.

Peer Support, non-clinical support from trained peers with lived experience.

Legal Support, assistance navigating legal issues related to substance use.

A Note on Safe & Inclusive Drug Treatment

Many mainstream drug treatment services are gendered and may not feel safe for LGBTQ+ individuals, leading to barriers in accessing care.

We have a bold vision of developing a future ambulatory withdrawal service that, once established, will provide a non-residential alternative that allows clients to withdraw from substances safely within their community while remaining connected to family, support networks, and familiar environments. This approach aligns with trauma-informed care principles, prioritising safety, trust, choice, collaboration, and respect for diversity.
