Dr Greg Batty

Biography:

General Practitioner, Male, MBBS, Master of Public Health, Master of Medicine (Clinical Epidemiology), Graduate Diploma in Addiction and Mental Health

During the first wave of the HIV/AIDS crisis, Dr Greg was a bulk billing solo GP in King Street, Newtown. Between 1986 and 1997, he cared for many patients living with HIV and AIDS, including providing palliative care for many of those who wished to die at home. Since 1997, he has worked in general practice in Bankstown, Bondi Junction and the Sydney CBD.

He has experience in treating a variety of health problems seen in the scope of general practice. He has special interests in:

Equitable, collaborative and culturally appropriate health care for all First Nations people with the goal of trying to ‘Close the Gap’. LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing throughout all stages of life. Gender Affirming Care including prescribing Gender-affirming hormone therapy to adults under the ‘Informed consent model of care’ and in consideration of the AusPATH Standards of Care. Sexual Health including prescribing PrEP and DoxyPEP. Mental Health including providing Mental Health Plans for those who require them.

He believes that many people in the LGBTQ+ community, both alive and passed, have long hoped for and worked very hard towards having a specialised LGBTQ+ multidisciplinary health service in NSW such as Kaleido. He feels very grateful to have the opportunity to work at Kaleido.

In his spare time, Dr Greg likes to go to exhibitions, lectures and cinema at the Art Gallery of NSW, the State Library, Qtopia and Queer Screen.
